Application Process for Incoming Students and Staff

Erasmus exchange students can apply only if their University has an Inter-institutional Erasmus+ Agreement with Istanbul Medeniyet University (IMU). Prospective Erasmus+ students must be selected and nominated by their home institution. 

Nomination Deadlines for Incoming Erasmus+ Students

For Fall Semester: 15 May
For Spring Semester: 15 November 
Having selected their Erasmus+ students for IMU, institutions should send nomination information to until the above deadlines. Nominated students will have 30 days to complete and send their documents to IMU Erasmus Program Office. 
Incoming Erasmus students need to apply to the Erasmus Office of their home university. The ECTS Learning Agreement must be signed by the student and the academic coordinators both at the home and host universities. Please click here for the list of departmental Erasmus+ coordinators in IMU. 

General Requirements for Admission:

  • Attending a partner university who has an Erasmus Student Exchange Agreement with Istanbul Medeniyet University
  • Completed at least one semester, students have to have a CGPA.
  • Being selected and nominated by the home institution (home institution’s selection criteria might slightly vary)
  • Signing of the ECTS Learning Agreement by student, home institution and Istanbul Medeniyet University

Documents Required for Application: The following documents should be scanned and sent to upon nomination to apply to IMU as an Erasmus+ student:

  • Learning Agreement (fully signed)
  • Official transcript of records
  • A scanned photograph

Documents Required for Registration: Upon arrival, the following documents should be submitted to IMU’s International Office for official registration.

  • Learning Agreement (fully signed)
  • Official transcript of records
  • Student certificate
  • Passport copy (a copy of the 1st page)   
  • 3 photographs (4,5 cm x 6,0 cm headshot photos in which the applicant is easily recognized and taken in the last six (6) months)  
  • Printout of the "Application Form for Incoming Students"
  • Life Health Insurance (not Travel Insurance), which is valid and obtained from a company with a center/office in Turkey. (Due to the fact that the Immigration Office has strict regulations and may demand a new one, it is highly recommended to purchase a health insurance in Turkey upon arrival.)
